B. S. Dara is an independent foreign affairs observer, published author, and regular columnist who specializes in geopolitics and regional security and  provides analysis on geopolitics, foreign policy, and India’s strategic autonomy. His essays and opinion columns appear regularly in major Indian newspapers, covering contemporary military and diplomatic developments and its impact on South Asian regional dynamics.

Beyond journalism, Dara is a novelist known for works of literary fiction that emphasize moral tension and psychological insight. His prose style has been compared to a blend of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, with reviews describing him as "Indian literature's most precise knife".
